I tried the Steelseries 7H, very comfy but too expensive.
I traded the 7H in for a Razer Tiamat 7.1. I thought surround sound would be bad ass but it didn't impress me. The ear cup of my Tiamat completely broke off after one gentle cord tug to the floor.
(I couldn't tell you how many times I slammed my X12's with no damage)
So the Tiamat was sent away and I saw this, the Razer Kracken. When I received it I was happy with the looks and comfort. After weeks of use I find this headset to be reliable and a pleasure to use. I also use skype quiet often, and the mic works just fine.
In my opinion the expensive headsets that are out today aren't worth your time. They might produce some great audio but that will break in no time. (I managed to break A40's & Tiamat 7.1)
I do wish I could use these on my Xbox for mic communication.
EDIT: Months later and I am STILL enjoying this headset! It has to be the most comfortable headset I have ever used. I have had no problems even after dropping it a few times. Virtually no wear and tear either! The Kracken never seems to get old for me. Every time I hop on the computer I enjoy throwing these bad boys on.

Amazing! Buy Now!
By Cj Williams
VOICE / MIC QUALITY: Clear, precise, never cut out or any interference.
SOUND QUALITY: Good clear sound with high and volume. Bass is abit strong which may be a plus for some people.
COMFORT: Like it is advertised it is one of the most comfortable headsets. Once you wear them you forget they are on. Went through a 5 hour session and felt no annoyance
DURABILITY: Only owned it for a week but so far seems pretty good. Mic is sturdy and I'm pretty sure it won't snap.
DESIGN AND FORM FACTOR: The design is amazing. I have the green version and it really looks beautiful. But it does stand out in public so it's really up to you.
Whether your playing it on the PC or want to try it on the xbox 360(http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004EZMGIQ/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00) this product is great! I love it very much seeing as I'm a gamer first person second! :) Very Comfortable, Great Sound, Durable.. what more can you ask for?

Superb headset. Except one thing.
By A Happy Customer
Let me start of with this: I am a pretty hard core gamer. Most of my sessions last several hours, and even when I finish gaming I continue listening to music or watching movies. So the following has plenty of testing to back it up. This is the most comfortable piece of audio equipment that I have ever used. Now I haven't tried everything on the market, but between my own purchases and use of friends headsets, I've used my fair share. These are easily the most comfortable things I've ever put on my ears. More than once I've gotten up to get something and snagged the cord, because I couldn't even tell I was wearing them.
As for the audio, I was immensely impressed. I'm not an audiophile, but sound is still incredibly important in my gaming. The sound comes though very crisp and loud, sometimes a little too loud. The bass is quite powerful, so its recommended to turn it down if you don't want to get a headache. The headphones are also excellent at canceling outside sound, something I cannot say for other headsets I've worn.
The microphone is quite good. Very clear. I don't know how to rate it against other high quality mics, but this one absolutely gets the job done. Another cool feature is that the mic retracts back into the headset, something I didn't know about until today. I never needed it out anyway, so keeping it in is not a bad option if you don't want to damage it.
Now for the one thing. Durability.
The build of the headset is actually quite great. The headband shows no signs of wear or stress, even though its made out of plastic. The left cup of the first set I received went out (well, the sound dropped to nearly inaudible levels) so I sent it back for a replacement. I didn't believe that this would be a recurring problem, as other reviews seemed pretty content with the lifespan of the headset itself. The replacement worked well for about two weeks as well, until the wire at the jack for the microphone (it has a single 4 collar from the actual headset, and then an extension that splits into two 3 collar. one for speakers and one for mic) broke. I feared this from the beginning, as the wire gets incredibly thin once it splits. The rest of the cable seems very durable, but unfortunately Razer decided to make the part that gets the most stress to be the most fragile(pulling them out is difficult, at least for my computer, if you are trying to pull from the plug itself). If they made it a little thicker or included a 4 collar to USB adapter that really should be standard for any mid to high quality PC headset, this wouldn't really be a problem.
If it weren't for that one problem, this headset would be my go to for a long time. I really enjoyed using it while it worked, both for gaming and listening to music. In fact, one of my favorite features is the fact that it can be disconnected from the extension and then plugged into just about any portable media device. Overall, I really like the headset, and would recommend it to anybody AS LONG AS they are using without the flimsy splitting extension (either just the single jack, or bought a separate connector that is more durable or USB)
